125th Anniversary Service

In 2008, a special service was held for the 125th anniversary of the Boys' Brigade with the unveiling of a new Cairn in the grounds. Many special activities were held during the year, which you can read about in Johns review of the celebrations.

Recent Awards

Captain John Methven, who led the Boys' Brigade at Bennochy (previously St. John's) Parish Church, was awarded an MBE in the 2009 New Years Honours List for "voluntary service to the Boys' Brigade in Kirkcaldy, Fife". At a special Church service on 29th November 2015 John 'retired' after 80 years with the Boys' Brigade.

Andrew Bease was presented with the Queen's Badge - the highest award available to a B.B. boy. He was presented at a special service in Dunfermline Abbey by the Lord Lieutenant of Fife on 6th June 2010.

Ian Hunter with the anniversary shirt

Ian Hunter, one of our 'older' boys, arranged a special football match at Buckingham Palace on the 7th October 2013 in celebration of grass roots football.

As president of the Civil Service Football Club, Ian organised the special 150th anniversary match which was hosted by HRH The Duke of Cambridge. This event was widely covered by TV news broadcasts. Ian sent his good wishes to all current and previous Boys' Brigade members as well as to John Methven and the team.
